The Mac was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts.
13 July 2019
In the first session, you will be introduced to the basics of choosing typefaces – type anatomy, classification, as well as learning to identify what makes typefaces suited for different purposes and text sizes.
This will be complemented with a group exercise to select appropriate typefaces for different briefs.
20 July 2019
Through group conversations, you will learn about the criteria that can be used to judge the quality of typefaces. This will be followed by an exercise to choose, not one but several, typefaces based on given layouts.
The session will be rounded off with a discussion about typeface pairing, what to keep in mind while making these selections, and ultimately, how to do it successfully.
